DJ Envy is the co-host of the Power 105.1’s popular syndicated radio show The Breakfast Club, but he’s also a notable hip-hop producer. On Thursday (Aug. 10), he premiered his new single “Text Ur Number” featuring Fetty Wap and DJ Sliink.

Produced by Esentrik and Envy, it’s a club banger that will certainly get the party started right. It has a feel-good vibe as Fetty Wap hollers at a fly cutie that catches his eye and wants her to text her number to him.

In an interview with Billboard, DJ Envy explained the song's creation. “For me, it was all about the feeling. When I first put that Fetty Wap song in my car, I knew that has a hit-record," he said. "It’s kind of like the first time I heard that Cardi B record ['Bodak Yellow'] that’s out right now."

"As soon as I heard it, it didn’t matter that it was Cardi B, it didn’t matter whether she had a long rap career, it didn’t matter that she wasn’t signed, I just knew that was a record that was going to take off," he continues. "When that beat hits your soul and gives you that two-step rhythm, you know it’s going to be a hit.”

“I wanted to create something that had that Jersey fist-pump vibe mixed with that Jersey club vibe but when the beat drops, you get that trap music vibe,” he added.

The 39-year-old producer also revealed that his second single, will be “a New York love song” featuring two of NYC's top rhymers Fabolous and A Boogie wit da Hoodie. “The second single with Fabolous and A Boogie reminds you of that classic New York bop," he said. "I had this sample since my last album in 2003 that I wanted to do so when I thought about creating this project."

DJ Envy is currently on working on his new project, Just A Kid From Queens, which he plans to release in 2018.
