Love is picture perfect at the start of the relationship, but somewhere along the line, things chance -- for better or for worse. Elle Varner highlights the latter in the new video for her song 'Cold Case.'

The RCA songstress doesn't appear in the visual, but instead she shows a couple who starts out blissful and ends up in distress.

"'Cause you went and changed up on me much too fast / Talk about lightning speed, lightning speed / But it ain't no unsolvable mystery / I gotta get down to it," she sings.

The entire clip centers on black and white objects -- even the couple is interracial. The director uses a slew of random images, like a bottle breaking and a page being torn from a book to symbolize a relationship gone bad.

But despite the artistic approach, the story line seems a bit complicated and leaves you scratching your head in confusion.

However, the song is solid, as Varner does a wonderful job of penning true-to-life-lyrics, while hitting beautiful, heartfelt notes at the same time.

Her new album '4 Letter Word' should be out in 2015. The project is a follow-up to her impressive first release, 'Perfectly Imperfect.'
