Retirement? What retirement? After producing a soundtrack for his N.W.A. biopic, Straight Outta Compton, Dr. Dre is hard at work on a new music project for a new book.

According to HipHopDX, the veteran producer is creating original music for the adaptation of the graphic novel, LOADED. The audio will accompany the book, which is slated for release later this year. Dre's longtime producing collaborator, Mark Batson, who has worked with 50 Cent, Eminem and the Game, will co-produce the project.

LOADED tells the origin story of a young Brooklyn teen who grows up to be a mysterious elite assassin. “Imagine if James Bond or Jason Bourne came from the streets of The Wire,” explains Robert Patla, General Manger of OUM, which released LOADED. "The uniqueness here lies in the detailed depiction of the transition...the evolution from Brooklyn teenager to loyal soldier. Now imagine that story, set to the music of Mark Batson and Dr. Dre."

“I’m excited to work with Mark on the music for LOADED," said Dr. Dre via press release. "When he gave me the book, I immediately fell in love with the story, so I’m honored that he asked me to be a part of the process.”

LOADED is also being adapted for television with a script penned by screenwriter David C. Wilson (The Man From U.N.C.L.E.). Dr. Dre and Mark Batson will also produce music for the series if it gets picked up.

We had some hints that Dr. Dre was working on some new music. Recent Aftermath Records signee Anderson .Paak spilled the beans during an interview with BBC Radio 1Xtra.

“He’s working right now, doing a lot of work right now,” he said. “I can’t really speak on it.”

It's good to hear that Dr. Dre is back in the studio. We can't wait to hear it.
