If Winter Storm Jonas has left you homebound, now is the perfect time to catch up on the hottest tunes of the past several days. To help you out, we have our Best Songs of the Week playlist.

This past month has been an eventful one for the music world. Rappers and singers have been continuing to raise the bar with a slew of high-profile tracks. Last week, we featured a stellar lineup of songs from the Game, Dr. Dre and Keke Palmer.

With the end of the month right around the corner, it’s impossible to catch every new song that hits the internet. However, a few tunes managed to pique our interest and stand a cut above the rest.

So without further ado, we present our latest edition of Best Songs of the Week with three (mostly) new tracks from Jeezy, Meek Mill and Kanye West.

Did your favorite song make the cut? Let us know in the comments below.

“Sweet Life”

Jeezy Featuring Janelle Monae

Pastor Jeezy gives a sermon from the gutter on his latest one-off, “Sweet Life.” Featuring Janelle Monae on the hook, the eclectic diva delivers an impassioned performance, singing “Sweet life, oh my, you turn this to light / All the darkness, scattered out of sight / I’ve been waiting on this for some time / Now that it’s here, I’m going to be fine” while Jeezy rides shotgun on the adlibs. Bars like “When my back’s against the wall then I react / The point of no return, hey it ain’t no coming’ back / Ask me what the difference is, I got everything they lack / And I really touched that bag, see I really had a sack” see the ATL trap star going for the gusto with a never-die attitude and speak to his relentless drive and hustle. “Sweet Life” is a motivational offering that is one of this week’s premier selections.

“Gave Em Hope”

Meek Mill

After taking time to regroup after his defeat against Drake in their rap feud, Meek Mill returned with a new EP, 4/4. The collection features a few diss songs against Drake and another rival, 50 Cent. On “Gave Em Hope,” the Philly rhymer engages in warfare with the G-Unit leader. Meek tears into 50 with lines like “S— that you’re popping ain’t making sense / I got fifty reasons say you’re taking dick / And it’s fifty reasons I should kill, n—- / But, for real, n—-, I been taking trips,” and flexes all over the glorious production. “Gave Em Hope” is Meek at the top of his game and gives those who counted him out reason to second guess their predictions.

“No More Parties in L.A.”

Kanye West Featuring Kendrick Lamar

“No more parties in L.A. / Please, baby, no more parties in L.A,” pleads Kanye West on his new banger, “No More Parties in L.A.,” which sees Yeezy throwing the backpack on and returning back to form with one of the best outings in quite some time. Featuring Kendrick Lamar, the Compton rhymer takes the first crack at the Madlib-produced beat, rhyming, “She said she came out here to find an A-list rapper / I said baby, spin that round and say the alphabet backwards / You’re dealing with malpractice, don’t kill a good nigga’s confidence / Just cause he a nerd and you don’t know what a condom is,” while dropping a rare guest verse that is sure to leave rap nerds in a tizzy.

K.Dot may go bananas on “No More Parties In L.A.,” but there’s no question who’s the headlining star on this collab, with Kanye West turning in what fans and critics are deeming his best verse in years. Lines like “A backpack nigga with luxury taste buds / And the Louis Vuitton store, got all of my pay stubs / Got p—- from beats I did for n—-s more famous / When did I become A list? I wasn’t even on a list,” are reminiscent of the couplets that endeared the Louis Vuitton Don to the public. While Kanye’s long-awaited Swish album is still a month away from being liberated, “No More Parties In L.A.” is a hell of a keepsake for the time being and gets a huge thumbs up for our Best Songs of the Week playlist.
