Despite reports to the contrary, legendary Beastie Boys rapper Adam "MCA" Yauch says that he is still battling cancer.

Earlier this week, several media outlets reported that Yauch had been cleared of periaortic gland and lymph node cancer, after fellow Beastie Boy Mike D. told BBC's Radio One, "we're really happy" about Yauch's all-clear status.

Yauch released a statement on the Beastie Boys' website Friday night to thank his fans for their support, and correct Mike D.'s comments, saying, "While I'm grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer-free are exaggerated. I'm continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer-free in the near future."

In August of 2009, Yauch announced that he had been diagnosed with a "very treatable" tumor in his salivary gland, causing the Beastie Boys to cancel their upcoming tour and postpone the release date of their forthcoming LP, 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1,'

which has since been shelved, and will be released after the album's follow-up, 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 2,' due later this year.
