Monica Reveals Her Most Personal Song on ‘Code Red’ [EXCLUSIVE VIDEO]
Monica is keeping it real for her day one fans. The 35-year-old singer made sure to include something for everybody on her new album, Code Red, which is in stores now.
Her two favorite songs -- "I Know" and "Deep" -- are a testament to that. The former is a love ballad, one of Monica's favorite type of songs. In it, she sings about leaving emotional baggage behind while getting into a new relationship -- an experience she's faced personally.
"When I tell you I love you I mean it / For the first time I'm not afraid I mean it / No matter what I'm not leaving / Cause I know," she sings. "Deep," on the other hand, takes on an edgier tone as she talks about falling in love. Similar to her debut album, Miss Thang, Monica says that the 14-track effort is "diverse."
It's been ten years since the release of her debut album and three years since she's released an LP. But the "Angel of Mine" singer is ready for fans to hear what she's been cooking up in the studio.
But in the meantime, as we dig into the new sounds from the mom-of-three, videos will be released in a five-part series about the singer's latest effort. Check out the first installment above and listen to "I Know" below.
