Cher and Future make for an unusual pairing, but the two stars get together in a new ad for GAP that debuted Wednesday (Sept. 13)

The pair are featured in the latest spot for GAP's Meet Me in the Gap campaign. In the Director X vid, Future and Cher sit on stairs, as Cher sings Sly & the Family Stone's classic "Everyday People." It's a decidedly trap-friendly variation on the tune; with Future providing some trademark ad-libs.

“It was cool to work with someone who is in the industry but has such a different background and life from me,” Future told PEOPLE. “Our love for music really connected us. She’s a true performer and a legend.”

Last month, Future canceled his shows in Virginia in the wake of the Charlottesville tragedy. He was scheduled to perform at the University of Virginia on Aug. 20.

“Out of respect for the tragic events I felt it wasn’t rite to perform at this time. Please understand my heart mean well VA,” he wrote. “VA is important to me & always will be. I’m comin very soon,my word! Love Forever.”
