Yasiin Bey -- otherwise known to the world as Mos Def -- decided that a recent show at The Shrine in Chicago was the opportune time to debut some unreleased work he'd done with Kanye West.

Well okay then sir!

"The Light Is Not Afraid Of The Dark" was originally recorded for Mos' 2006 LP True Magic, and while it doesn't feature 'Ye vocals, it is his production. Unfortunately the tune got left on the cutting room floor.

From what we can glean from the performance video, the airy up-tempo tune is reminiscent of the soul-infused production we'd love to see 'Ye get back to. And we'll never tire of hearing Mos on these type of beats.

We're still waiting on Mos Def's debut LP on G.O.O.D. Music.
