Singer Miguel's sophomore album, Kaleidoscope Dream, didn't hit the proverbial slump. Instead, the effort rose to the occasion, scoring a top three chart position on the Billboard 200.

The LP's first-week numbers serve as the RCA Records signee's best yet. He climbed to No. 3 with 71,000 units sold. The 25-year-old L.A. native also claims the No. 1 spot on the R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. His first album, 2010's All I Want Is You, debuted at No. 109 on the Billboard 200, selling 11,000 copies.

Sultry tracks like "Adorn" and "Do You" contributed to the overall selling success of Kaleidoscope Dream, documented by Nielsen SoundScan.

Another artist who released an album during the same week as Miguel was DJ Drama. The Gangsta Grillz creator dropped his fourth album, Quality Street Music, on Oct. 2. He nabbed the No. 15 position on the Billboard 200, selling 24,000 units of the LP. Drama's effort, which has a power player guest list that includes Drake, Fabolous, Common, 2 Chainz and Rick Ross, also earned the No. 2 slot on the Independent Albums, Rap Albums and R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.
