Beanie Sigel Sentenced to Two Years in Prison for Tax Evasion

Troubled rapper Beanie Sigel has been sentenced to two years in prison for failing to file federal income tax returns between 1999 and 2005.

The former Jay-Z associate pleaded guilty to the tax evasion charge in August of 2011, after bilking the IRS out of $728,536, however he has only just received his sentence.

In court today, Sigel claimed that he was willing to assume "total responsibility" for his crime, then reportedly accused unnamed family members for mishandling his finances while he was incarcerated for drug and weapons charges in 2004 and 2005.

"I haven't been able to get my career back on track since," Sigel lamented.

In addition to the prison time, Beans will also be required to pay his back taxes, as well as any penalties or interest owed the IRS. He has until September 12 to turn himself in to the authorities.
