Last night, the world got its first look at Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon's 6-month old twins, and while young Moroccan and Monroe -- or Roc and Roe, as the proud parents call them -- didn't utter a peep, let alone sing a note, it seems they're already taking after their mother.

"I will say they really respond to music," Carey told Barbara Walters, who interviewed the famous couple for ABC's '20/20.'

If the pop megastar is harboring dreams of a musical family, her hubby would like to see the tykes tackle something bigger than entertainment.

"I think society puts too much on entertainment and entertainers," the actor, comedian and 'America's Got Talent' host told Walters. "They praise them like they're royalty, especially in America, when it should really be about the teachers or the doctors."

Cannon's admiration for doctors may have something to do with the his wife's troubled pregnancy. While carrying the twins, the 40-year-old diva suffered from preeclampsia, high blood pressure and gestational diabetes. Approaching the 30-week mark, she fought hard to avoid the early labor that might have proved disastrous.

"I would sit and then someone would have to help me up," Carey revealed. "I couldn't go even to the loo by myself. It was just like, 'What are we doing? Are we going to the hospital? No, I'm gonna stick it out, I'm gonna keep taking this medicine to keep these babies in... I made it to 35 weeks and then the doctor said it wasn't safe anymore."

Now that everyone is healthy and happy, Carey told Walters, life is good.

"It's just love," she said. "It's a beautiful place to be."
