Earlier today (Aug. 24), MediaTakeOut.com claimed an anonymous source emailed the site, the self-styled "most visited urban website in the world," and offered up -- for a price, of course -- a sex tape said to feature Rihanna and rapper J. Cole.

The would-be smut peddler even included screen shots, which reportedly show a woman with "fiery red hair" getting busy with a man resembling the North Carolina MC.

While MediaTakeOut.com admits it can't verify the identity of either party, the site listed two reasons to believe the tape could be real.

First, Cole and RiRi toured together earlier this year, which means they at least know each other. Second, J. Cole recently visited Rihanna's native island of Barbados to film his Trey Songz-assisted single, 'Can't Get Enough.' Coincidence he chose the Bajan beauty's hometown? Third, the rapper lost his phone Tuesday night (Aug. 23) while performing in Vancouver, Canada, and in a pair of post-concert tweets, he urged the female fan who plucked it from his pocket to return it fast, lest he post footage exposing her thievery.

"Ima let you save the embarrassment and world star fame, by hittin @kingofqueenz or @iamdjdummy so I can gt that back asap," Cole tweeted. "U got a few hrs."

Evidently, the fan listened, because Cole's business partner Ibrahim H. -- AKA @kingofqueenz -- took to Twitter soon after to announce she'd given the device back.

That means the Canadian phone swiper probably wasn't behind the MediaTakeOut.com email, but it doesn't necessarily disprove the existence of the sex tape. Dirty-minded fans will just have to stay tuned.

*UPDATE: Adult film company Hustler claims to hold the sex tape of the Bajan pop star and Roc Nation signee. "Hustler are in possession of the Rihanna and J-Cole tape [sic]," a rep for the porn company revealed to RadarOnline.com. "We have seen it and we do not know what we are going to do with it yet."
