Last year, Nicki Minaj created a limited-edition Pink Friday M.A.C lipstick to coincide with the release of her debut album of the same name. The rapper, who's rarely seen without a pink pout, has been tapped by the cosmetics giant for an even bigger cause, one that shines the spotlight on the AIDS epidemic.

The M.A.C. AIDS Fund has selected the animated rhymer as a spokesperson for the 2012 VIVA GLAM campaign. Minaj isn't the first rapper to take on the role, since she's following in the footsteps of Missy Elliott and Eve, as well as Lady Gaga and Black Eyed Peas' leading lady Fergie, who were all past featured artists.

Minaj, who will also be joined by crooner Ricky Martin in the 2012 campaign, is set to experience a stellar shoot since veteran photographer David LaChapelle is the man behind the lens. Both artists posed for the famed photog at a Miami location Monday (July 25).

"Viva Glam Photo Shoot. Ur gonna GAG!!!!!" the Young Money signee tweeted. "Can't wait for my barbz & ken barbz to wear this new shade of lipstick! Wait til u see it! Sickening!!!!"

Currently, the fund has raised $224 million to date in an effort to fight HIV/AIDS through the sale of its VIVA GLAM lip products.

Nicki Minaj's VIVA GLAM campaign will launch in February 2012.
