After years of living in the shadows of Kanye West and A Tribe Called Quest, rapper Consequence was in rare form during an interview yesterday (May 4), calling both rap acts out and explaining where their relationships stand today.

While speaking with MTV personality Sway Calloway for RapFix.com, Cons revealed that he not only wrote songs for Kanye but hasn't received credit for all of his work. "One record that I never got credit for, which always stuck out in my mind, was that I helped out with some of the rhymes from 'Champion,'" he said. "Every album that he's had, I've been involved from a creative aspect in writing of songs."

Cons also cleared up that he is no longer affiliated with G.O.O.D. Music, but has since started running his own record label, Band Camp Records. "My purpose for coming here is clarification. There are many fans who still align me with G.O.O.D. Music and it's not fair to their intellect that they are fooled in that manner. I'm not a part of G.O.O.D. Music, I'm the CEO of Band Camp Records. Any piece of intellectual property or artist you hear come my way is via Band Camp Records."

As for working with ATCQ, headed by his cousin, Q-Tip, Cons stated that he has no ties to the group. The start of his beef with Q-Tip and 'Ye stems from their lack of work on his long-delayed 'Cons TV' album, which they were rumored to be producing. Acknowledging that they have "personal issues," Cons now feels like he's ready to let go of any ill feelings towards his former friends and move forward with the project on his own.

"I'm not harping on anything, but I'mma point out the obvious. I committed my time, my energy, my efforts to what we all committed to," he explained. "That's the Cons TV project. It's not to be understated. They rolled with me through everything. They heard the stories on the 'Job Song.' They heard 'Uncle Rahiem.' They rooted for me. This was the coup de gras."

Despite being so candid and seemingly upset, Cons maintained that the goal behind the interview was to merely clear up any misconceptions.

Cons released his debut 'Don't Quit Your Day Job,' which featured the Kanye-assisted track 'The Good, The Bad, The Ugly.' An official release date for his sophomore album 'Cons TV' has yet to be announced.
