Despite losing his bid to become a presidential candidate in Haiti, Wyclef Jean is still working to support the country's government. The musician/philanthropist has teamed with former Fugees member Pras and music executive Jimmy Rosemond to support presidential candidate Michel Martelly by hosting a concert in his honor Thursday night (March 17).

According to AllHipHop.com, Jean was also joined Busta Rhymes, and leading lady of the Fugees Lauryn Hill was scheduled to make an appearance but no reports have confirmed her showing. Held in Champs-De-Mars, Haiti, over 200,000 people were expected to attend the concert, although the final numbers have yet to be released. "It's a new era in Haiti and we are campaigning for change for good in my beloved country," Jean told the website. "I had to come home as a diaspora to make a difference."

Following what was revealed to be a fraudulent voting system back in November, re-elections are scheduled to take place March 20. "No change comes easy especially in these trying times for the Haitian population but I had to come to encourage voting for that change," added Rosemond.

Jean remains the most outspoken celebrity activist for the country, ravaged by a catastrophic 7.0 earthquake, which hit the country last January. It is estimated that over 300,000 people lost their lives following the natural disaster, while a million were left injured and/or homeless.
