50 Cent Planning ‘Different Vibe’ for ‘Black Magic’

Less than one year after releasing his fourth album, rapper 50 Cent is already laying down tracks for his up-coming release 'Black Magic.' During a tour stop in Norway, 50 revealed that he has already begun recording a few songs for the project and was inspired by some of the music he heard overseas.

"I actually recorded three songs," he said in an interview. "I had this idea, I went to a nightclub after party, [they were playing] a different kind music for a little while before I actually got there. You know they play your music when you come, but the music they played before they started playing a lot of the material I created, was more up-tempo, more dance. I wanted to make a song like that so I went to the studio. Because I'm traveling with my live band, I took the band with me and we sequenced it and recorded the actual record while we [were] out there; and then I had two other songs that I had did production for. I had been writing those songs for a while so I finished them. I actually recorded them while I was out here."

Unlike 'Before I Self Destruct,' which he previously characterized as "darker" and "more aggressive," this time around the Queen's emcee is looking to bend musical boundaries. "I'm excited about it," he said of the new album. "It has a total different vibe. I won't allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style or do one kind of music so they should expect the unexpected on this project and its good. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres in music and different styles, for the people who have various taste in music, they'll really like it."

Once at the top of the music game, 50 saw a sharp decline in sales with the release of 'Before I Self Destruct.' After several pushbacks the album hit stores in November of 2009. To date it has sold over 500,000 copies domestically, paling in comparison to his earlier multi-platinum efforts. 'Black Magic' is due out this year.
