Jayz and Beanie Sigel

Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z has been dissed by friends and foes alike during his career, but the recent insults hurled by former labelmate and protege of sorts, Beanie Sigel, seem to have struck a nerve.

At a Canadian press conference, Jay responded to the former Roc-a-Fella rapper's diss, 'What You Talkin' 'Bout (Average Cat),' saying "Beanie Sigel had a record deal, a record label and a clothing line and never went platinum. Ever. I don't know, in the history of rap, if anyone has ever done so much with so little. What more can you do for a person at that point? A record deal, that's normal. A record label and a clothing line ... If that's not pushing a person, s---!"

Jay also pointed the finger in Beans' direction, citing his lifestyle and poor career choices for his current situation. "Beanie Sigel, at the time, and you can look it up if you'd like, was driving two Bentleys," he pointed out. " With his momma in the sticks and selling 800,000 records. I don't know. What more can you do for somebody at that point? At some point, you have to look in the mirror and look at yourself."

Sometime Jay-Z rival 50 Cent weighed in on the beef, saying "[Jay-Z] is a smart guy and you can't take away from him what he's done in the actual business and in the game, but since he lost to Nas, he hasn't competed." Check out the Beanie Sigel diss here.
