Shyne is officially on his way back to his home country of Belize. According to the Belizean News, the 30-year-old will be deported back to the Central American country from New York this afternoon. He was released form prison earlier this month, after serving 8-years behind bars. He is to be deported by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and will be met at the airport by his father Belizean Prime Minister Dean Barrow.

While his immigration status is still under review, Shyne, born Jamal Barrow, must return to Belize despite the fact that his mother lives in New York, where he grew up. Prime Minister Barrow petitioned the help of Harvard Law Professor Charles Ogletree to assist in the matter of keeping his son in the states. "All the lawyers who were dealing with his immigration problems, they are totally off the case now," said Shyne's uncle, Michael Finnegan. "He [Ogletree] has stepped in totally, he was given permission to deal with the situation in all its aspects," he said.

There is no word yet on how long the rapper will have to stay in Belize, but rumor has it that he has plans to work on new music while his immigration issues are hashed out.

Shyne was sentenced to 10-years behind bars following a shootout at a nightclub while partying with Sean "Diddy" Combs and then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.
