Kanye West apologized to Taylor Swift after storming the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards stage during her acceptance speech and proclaiming that Beyonce should have taken home the award instead. After being asked to leave the venue, the rapper, who has a history of outburst at award shows, took to his blog to make amends with Swift.

"I'm so sorry to Taylor Swift and her fans and her mom. I spoke to her mother right after and she said the same thing my mother would've said. She is very talented! I like the lyrics about being a cheerleader and she's in the bleachers! I'm in the wrong for going on stage and taking away from her moment!"

His attempt to repent took an awkward turn as he went on to justify his actions. "Beyonce's video was the best of this decade!!! I'm sorry to my fans if I let you guys down!!! I'm sorry to my friends at MTV. I will apologize to Taylor [tomorrow]. Welcome to the real world!!! Everybody wanna' boo me but I'm a fan of real pop culture! No disrespect but we watchin[g] the show at the crib right now cause...well you know!!! I'm still happy for Taylor!!! Booyaa. You are very very talented. I gave my award to Outkast when they deserved it over me. That's what it is! I'm not crazy ya'll, I'm just real. Sorry for that! I really feel bad for Taylor and I'm sincerely sorry!!! Much respect!!!"

West was seen drinking on the red carpet and was reportedly intoxicated as he strolled past members of the press with girlfriend Amber Rose at his side.

In a true representation of the digital age, celebrities took to Twitter to both shun West and congratulate Swift. "Kanye West is the biggest piece of s--- on earth. Quote me," wrote singer Pink who allegedly had to be restrained after running into West backstage.

Former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland also had words for West, "I LOVE Kanye and I LOVE TAYLOR, and OF COARSE I LOVE B!! But no one should have a moment taken away from them," Rowland wrote. "NO ONE!!! It's room for everyone....KANYE...WHY BOO?"

Singer Trey Songz rallied behind the country singer, "You deserve all you receive beautiful, let no man tell you different."

Swift was said to be crying following the incident but handled it graciously when questioned by the press "I was standing onstage and I was really excited because I had just won an award and then I was really excited because Kanye West was on the stage," she said. "And then, um, I wasn't so excited anymore after that."

Beyonce later gave the 19-year-old a do-over, calling her to the stage in the middle of her own win for the coveted 'Video of the Year' award. "This is amazing," Beyonce said. "I remember being 17-years-old, up for my first MTV award with Destiny's Child and it was one of the most exciting moments of my life, so I would like for Taylor to come out and have her moment."
