Move over Troy Ave, there’s a new Tupac Shakur in town. After dropping his latest album, Beautiful Thugger Girls on Friday, Young Thug is now considering himself to be the “#newPAC.”

Following the album’s release, Thugger took to Twitter on Sunday to make the claim. “I dropped E.B.B.T.G on 2PAC’S bday because I’m the #newPAC I feel like I am the thug he didn’t get to become #SoImGoinFinishWhatHeStatrted.”

Thug’s tweet didn’t go over well with hip-hop fans or the rapper’s peers. After Thugger posted his tweet, YFN Lucci took to Twitter to respond. Quoting Young Thug’s post, Lucci wrote, “Pac would’ve never wore a dress” and added a clown emoji to the end.

While it’s still early to see if Young Thug will be taking his status as the new 2Pac seriously, Troy Ave took his new moniker to heart. In April, the Brooklyn rapper called himself the “second coming of 2Pac” and even went on to name his album, NuPac.

“I go in the mothaf---in’ clubs and n---as goin’ crazy. ‘Oh s---, that’s Troy Ave, n---a it’s the second coming of 2Pac, it’s NewPac,’” he told Power 105’s The Breakfast Club.
