Congolese Afro-electro rapper Young Paris and M1 of Dead Prez "get ready" in their latest video.

In the Junkyard Cinema-directed clip, Paris finds himself rapping around New York City with the Loumingou Night dancers. Although Paris is based in Brooklyn, he makes sure to represent his roots with some sick African drumming and dance moves. The two rhymers also spit some clever lines on the injustices faced by people of the African diaspora. At one point, Paris claims that he's going to take his weapon and "point it right at supremacy."

“’Get Ready’ invites the people of color to express themselves vigorously with the mindset of Africa Rising,” said Young Paris in an interview with Okayafrica. “My intentions were to get people feeling revolutionized while shaking all they got.”

M1 also spoke on the song's meaning. “This song is an affirmation of African flyness!” he said. “It spits in the face of those historically-backward thinkers who will be slammed to the ground by future-forward African culture and technology.”

"Get Ready" comes off of Paris' mixtape, African Vogue. Paris, a darling of the Afropunk Festival, is set to perform at Okayafrica's NYC SummerStage on Aug. 14 alongside Mbongwana Star and Batida. Catch his latest video above.
