Having just released one of the year's best mixtapes, 'Trunk Muzik,' Alabama rapper Yelawolf is getting a lot of well-deserved attention right now.

We caught up with the emcee -- prior to him ripping up Austin, Texas, at SXSW -- en route to the Brooklyn Bowl, a hipster-friendly bowling alley/venue in Williamsburg, for the Fader Bowl. The event marked his first solo show in New York and first performance in the borough. Before taking the stage, the lanky skater reflected upon becoming the face of Alabama's hip-hop scene, declared Brooklyn his favorite New York borough and revealed some of his "big plans for New York City." Check out the footage after the jump.
