Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse Sign to Eminem’s Shady Records

Eminem will appear on the March cover of XXL magazine alongside Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse, to detail his decision to sign both acts to his Shady Records imprint.

After months of speculation, Eminem has finally confirmed that both Yelawolf and Slaughterhouse — which includes rappers, Royce Da 5′ 9”, Joell Ortiz, Joe Budden and Crooked I — are now part of the Shady Records family. “Yelawolf and Slaughter, it’s kinda phase two of Shady,” Eminem explained in a statement. “It’s the new generation of Shady Records and as we’re trying to rebuild our label, it’s exciting for hip-hop with all of these forces coming together and with what everybody’s capable of on the mic, it’s gonna be fun.”

Last March, Yelawolf inked an official deal with Interscope Records, which is also home to Eminem’s personal imprint. The Alabama native caught the eye of major labels and music insiders after headline-grabbing performances at Austin’s SXSW festival. He released his ‘Trunk Muzik 0-60′ EP through the label in November. Slaughterhouse rapper and Detroit native, Royce Da 5′ 9”, has previously collaborated with Eminem and explained that he looks forward to their future work together. “It’s very exciting for me to reunite with Eminem years after our ‘Bad Meets Evil’ project together,” he said. “Slaughterhouse on Shady Records will be a force to reckon with.”
