Xzibit Releases ‘Urban Ammo 2′ Compilation
Rapper and actor Xzibit has teamed up Sony/ATV Music Publishing’s production division, Extreme Music, to release a new album compilation titled ‘Urban Ammo 2.’
X was recruited to produce and record the series of 40 tracks, which will be aimed primarily at professional music users and supervisors seeking material to dub in movie and big screen productions. Two of the 40 tracks — ‘Man On the Moon’ and ‘What It Is’ — have already been released on iTunes and are accompanied by visuals, which were directed by Skee.TV’s director Matt Alonzo.
“Working with Extreme has been a wonderful experience,” Xzibit said in a statement. “The music created for ‘Urban Ammo 2′ has been a collaboration with artists whom I feel are the next generation of stars in hip-hop, R&B and rock. Unleashing these tracks is gonna wreak some havoc.”
In the past few years, Xzibit has drifted from music in order to pursue a film career. In late March, he landed a pilot role in the upcoming medical TV drama ‘Weekends At Bellevue.’ Prior to ‘Urban Ammo 2,’ Xzibit released his most recent album, ‘Full Circle,’ in 2006. His seventh album ‘MMXI,’ is slated for a late 2011 release and features are set to include Kurupt, 40 Glocc and production from Scoop DeVille.
