Wyclef Jean has finally addressed the rumors regarding his recent shooting in Haiti.

The former Fugees member/political activist was visiting his native country in support of Haitian presidential candidate Michel Martelly, when he was allegedly shot and wounded in the hand, as he stepped out of his car in Port-au-Prince.

Conflicting reports regarding the shooting soon began to spread, however, local police chief Vanel Lacroix revealed that the doctor who had treated 'Clef said that he had actually been wounded by glass, not a bullet.

"I think really, I got grazed, I think," 'Clef has now responded, unconvincingly, about being shot. "We hear what's called in Creole 'catoosh,' the sound of the booms. Jumped in the car with [Haitian artist] FanFan, ran, picked my crew up, and went to the nearest hospital."

Fellow Fugees member Pras said that he hoped media would focus on this past Sunday's election instead of the shooting. "We don't really want to focus on that, because we think it's just a distraction from what's going on with the election," Praz warned. "We don't really want to play it up because people are going to take it the wrong way and it's going to excite the people. People are going to come up in arms. We want this election to be as smooth as possible."

"That's really where we at," Wyclef continued. "This is Haiti, it's a city of rumors ... There's another [rumor] with me and Busta Rhymes in the car." It is not yet known how seriously Wyclef was injured, nor whether the attack was politically motivated.
