Wiz Khalifa, Common Headlining North Coast Music Festival

The North Coast Music Festival will return to Chicago for the second Labor Day weekend -- Sept. 2-4, 2011 -- in a row. Wiz Khalifa and Common top the mostly DJ-heavy lineup headlined by David Guetta, Thievery Corporation, Bassnectar and Fatboy Slim.

Last year, the festival, which takes place in Chicago's Union Park -- the same site as the popular Pitchfork Music Festival, although the two fests bare no association to another -- featured more jam bands billed alongside acts like Lupe Fiasco, Nas and Damian Marley, the Chemical Brothers and Moby. In 2011, apart from Common and Wiz Khalifa, the festival is focusing on a more electronic and turntable-friendly lineup, that comes off as a poor man's answer to Coachella's Sahara Tent. But North Coast also managed to get some indie acts for 2011: Gogol Bordello, Neon Indian and Little Dragon to name a few.

In 2010, to help fuel sales, promoters sold last-minute discounted tickets on the website Groupon. The Chicago-based web-coupon company is a fest sponsor, but no word on whether similar discounted tickets will be offered through the site again this year. With a more focused lineup, the festival has a likelier chance of selling out than it did its first year.

For now, single day tickets start at $40 and three-day passes start at $95 (a little pricier than last year's $75), and prices will go up closer to the festival kickoff. To purchase tickets and for the full lineup head to NorthCoastFestival.com. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.
