Minnesota-born singer Nikki Jean has come a long way since dreaming of stardom while growing up in the mid-West. Now, the 28-year-old Philly native has a record deal, support from hip-hop heavyweights and a first album to call her own.

After appearing on Lupe Fiasco's track, 'Hip-Hop Saved My Life,' off his 2007 sophomore LP, 'The Cool,' the budding songstress left a lasting impression on listeners' ears. Her debut album, 'Pennies In a Jar,' has been well received, with the likes of Bob Dylan, Carole King and Burt Bacharach lending their songwriting talents to the effort and Lupe and the Roots' Black Thought assisting on 'Million Star Motel.'

As she moves along, sharing her soulful vocal prowess and piano-playing skills with fans, The BoomBox is gifting two lucky readers with a pair of tickets to two of her upcoming shows.

Nikki Jean will perform tonight (Oct. 18) at World Cafe Live in Philadelphia, and Wednesday (Oct. 19) at S.O.B.s in New York City.
