Former Geto Boys member William "Willie D" Dennis is revealing that he is thankful for the year and a day prison sentence he received for spearheading a wire fraud scam. Speaking to Houston's Fox 26, Dennis explained what drove him to pretend to sell customers iPhones only to keep the money without producing any product.

"Somebody did me wrong," he said. "Somebody stole my phones, and so I did the same thing to somebody else. I didn't necessarily steal their phones, I just didn't ship them. I took the money and didn't ship their orders. That's what happened, and I felt justified in doing it, at the time. Of course, now, I realize I was wrong. I was grateful, 'cause it could have been a whole lot worse."

As previously reported, Dennis was arrested back in 2009 for selling the phones on eBay, through his fictitious company, Texas One. He later plead guilty to fraud charges, and was facing up to 20 years behind bars for the scam.

Alongside the sentence, Dennis was also ordered to pay $194,087.17 in restitution and will undergo supervised probation for three years after his release. The 44-year-old is currently working on new music to be released before he begins his sentence, Dec. 4.
