Will.i.am, Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga were big winners at the 21st Annual World Music Awards.

The award show, which took place on Tuesday (May 18) in Monte Carlo, Monaco, featured performances by Kelly Rowland, N.E.R.D., Ludacris and Akon, as well as award winners Will.i.am and Lopez, the latter who was given the night's biggest honor -- the Legend for Outstanding Contribution to the Arts award.

Lopez, who was been out of the spotlight of late, appeared to have returned to form at the event, performing a medley of her hits and claiming that the triumphant night was "only the beginning" of her comeback. Previous recipients of the Legend award include Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince and Elton John.

Although not present at the show, Lady Gaga took home the most awards at five, including Best Single and Best Album, while Will.i.am accepted three for his group, the Black Eyed Peas, who were named the World's Best R&B, Hip and Pop act.

Proceeds from the World Music Awards go to Monaco Aide and Presence Foundation, building hospital and schools for underprivileged people around the world. Click here for footage and flicks from the event.
