A year after Whitney Houston‘s tragic death, her family is returning to the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The same hotel in which the singer met her unfortunate demise on the eve of the 2012 Grammy Awards.

The family is set to attend Clive Davis’ pre-Grammy Awards party.

“We’re going in support of Clive to show our appreciation of him as he honors Whitney,” Pat Houston, the singer’s sister-in-law and business manager, said at Madame Tussauds in New York on Tuesday.

Davis’ gathering is a tradition in music industry circles, and Houston — a protege of Davis — was typically a fixture at the shindig. She was set to attend last year before she was found face down in her hotel room bathtub.

But Houston’s family is hoping people remember the fallen diva for the right reasons.

“She was truly the voice,” Pat Houston, her sister-in-law, said. “She was a matchless woman when it came to her life and legacy. She was absolutely amazing. Embrace the life of Whitney Houston as that woman that was in a different stratosphere when it came to her craft.”

Houston’s brother, Michael Houston, recently admitted to introducing the singer to drugs, which contributed to her untimely death.
