Before Drake became a global rap superstar, he was a struggling actor trying to find his way in Toronto. Following his work on Canadian TV’s Degrassi: The Next Generation, where he played Jimmy Brooks, he agreed to appear in a 2008 short film called Us & Them.

The 14-minute movie stars Aubrey Graham and his friend Mazin Elsadig of BAMN Productions, which produced the project. The storyline is pretty much about two struggling actors going on the same audition to snag a television role. Along the way, they meet a zany bunch of characters.

We have to warn you beforehand, the film is god awful and boring. However, if you want to sit through it, you will see cameos from Drizzy’s grandmother, a very young OB O’Brien and Harlem’s own Jim Jones. But don’t get too excited, they are very brief cameos.

Although the movie is terrible, it’s a reminder of Drake’s humble beginnings before he became a big-time rapper. In addition, Mazin Elsadig of BAMN Productions went on to direct some of Drizzy’s hottest music videos, including “Marvin’s Room,” “Headlines” and “The Motto.”

Like Drake rapped about on his anthemic 2013 song, “Started From the Bottom,” he started from the bottom now his whole team is winning.
