Does the South run rap? According to Waka Flocka Flame, the region not only runs rap but music, period.

The Atlanta native spoke to VladTV about why the lower portion of the U.S. reigns supreme. “The South run music, period,” Waka stated. “They don’t just run one region, one state, one genre, the South run music. That’s just what it is. You know what I mean? Kendrick Lamar made the [bar] look West, but the South still winning. Like that’s what it is. It’s friendly competition. Some people just get carried away.”

These comments come on the heels of Trinidad James bashing the hip-hop scene in New York City during a performance in Brooklyn. Later, the 'All Gold Everything' rapper clarified his statement, saying in no way was he disrespecting the Big Apple.

"But this is to let the city of New York know: I wasn’t trying to disrespect you. At all. I can never do that. That’s against my code as a man. Forget being a rapper. I don’t really care. Most of y’all don’t think I can rap anyway," he apologized.
