September 23 night marked a full-scale celebration of Def Jam's 25-year history as VH1 Hip-Hop Honors 2009 (and yes, requisite police) took over a large chunk of downtown Brooklyn. While the main event popped-off, the VH1 Save The Music Foundation threw a satellite party down the block at One Hanson Place with a live feed of the ceremony, armies of HD televisions, a silent auction and some auxiliary DJing from Heavy Hitters.

After the ceremony, both events merged into a giant after-party. Guests included Kid Rock, Foxy Brown, Flavor Flav, Scarface, Ghostface Killah, The Roots, Chrisette Michele, Eric Sermon, Parrish, Warren G, Onyx, Teyana Taylor, Wale, Ed Lover, Lyor Cohen and Julie Greenwald. All proceeds from the night went to the VH1 Save The Music Foundation -- a nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of education in America's public schools by restoring and preserving music programs.
