Usher, Shaggy, YG, Wiz Khalifa & More Connect With Shazam to Share Their Music Discoveries

Usher, Shaggy and Wiz Khalifa, to name a few, are adding another big-name brand collaboration to their resumes.

For the past few weeks, artists and their respective fans have obsessed over the public streaming wars going on between brands like Spotify, TIDAL and Apple Music. There has been criticism over the newer services entering the field and executives firing back at the detractors (listen to Jay Z's "Stream of Consciousness" freestyle) plus debates over which brand maintains the better model. While those guys argue over whose musical jewels are bigger, Shazam just came through with a big middle finger in the air by announcing its new music initiative to showcase how "the biggest artists are also the biggest fans."

Shazam, one of the world's most popular apps used to identify music, is focused on finding new ways to bring fans and artists together through a "magical, musical experience." During a private event at New York's Tribeca rooftop on Monday (June 29), the company announced that its newest feature will allow fans to see how entertainers are using Shazam to discover tunes.

Artists and their supporters can create accounts and follow one another on their musical journey. In other words, Shazam is now the place where "your favorite artists discover their favorite artists."

User can follow their favorite performers and be locked into exactly who they are listening to in real time. There is also the ability to listen to the tracks Shazamed by their music idols, which differs from previous versions of the application.

To launch this initiative, the international conglomerate has partnered with 30 artists, including Shaggy, YG, Wiz Khalifa, Usher, Alicia Keys, Pitbull and more, who have already begun tagging their favorite songs. While this is huge for Shazam, it is also a big step for rising artists whose music may get tagged and shared with millions of new fans.
