The taping of the 2017 BET Hip Hop Awards was held in Miami on Friday night (Oct. 6), and the I Am Hip Hop Award honoree Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell possibly sparked some controversy regarding his acceptance speech.

The former 2 Live Crew founder, who was being honored for his contributions in hip-hop culture overall, may have said something negative about Funkmaster Flex and DJ Red Alert during his acceptance speech.

On Saturday morning (Oct. 7), Luke jumped on his Instagram page to clarify his remarks that may have been misinterpreted by the audience in attendance. The veteran rap mogul insisted that in no way was he dissing Flex or Red Alert. On the contrary, Luke was actually thanking them for breaking his music first in New York City.

“Let me set the record straight if anyone misinterpreted my [acceptance] speech at the BET Awards last night that I said something bad about @funkflex #djredAlert your F---ING WORNG," he wrote in the caption of the video above.

"What I was trying to say was when everybody else was s---ing on me Funkmaster Flex broke my music in New York along with DJ Red Alert giving me my name I will always be grateful to those guys," he continued. "If anyone knows me they know that I do not make Corrections with what I say I wear that s--- on my shoulder.”

We won't really know what Uncle Luke said in his acceptance speech until the BET Hip Hop Awards finally airs on Tuesday (Oct. 10) at 8PMET. Until then, we appreciate the clarification.

Congratulations to Uncle Luke for being honored with the I Am Hip-Hop Award.
