For years, Tyler, the Creator and Pharrell Williams have shared a musical friendship. On Monday (July 25), which marks the 10th anniversary of Skateboard P’s first solo album, In My Mind, Tyler paid homage to the album and its producer.

On his Instagram account, Tyler penned a heartfelt tribute to Pharrell and shared an anecdotal story of how he obtained his 2006 album, In My Mind, at the age of 15.

"IMM ranges in different styles and sounds and I believe that's why I gravitated to it so much," he wrote next to the photo of his vinyl copy of the album. "I still to this day don't think I can make a song better than "That Girl." And "I Really Like You Girl" is easily the best song on this album with your best Timberlake impersonation and Stevie harmonica."

Tyler goes on to highlight other songs that he like ("You Can Do It Too") and dislike ("Raspy S---"). Nevertheless, the album shaped him as a young teen who was listening to different types of music.

"I was optimistic, always daydreaming and setting goals so I felt you were directly speaking to me," he wrote. "I remember Clancy telling me how Jimmy Iovine thought this album was a "complete f---ing failure it didn't work. But see, it did, just on the kids he was looking at."

Near the end of the post, Tyler saluted Pharrell for creating a masterful album and for being his mentor.

"I’m now a young entrepreneur all because I believed you when I said I could be," he wrote. "This is getting so long, so uhhh, HBD IMM. "I never had brothers, uncles or my father around so thank you for being the male figure I gravitated to. Allowing me to embrace being different and trusting my ideas."

Boy, time flies when you are having fun.
