It's official—All Eyez On Me, the Tupac Shakur biopic, is set to hit theaters June 16, 2017.

Actor Dominic Santana, who plays Suge Knight in the film, dropped a photo collage along with the date for the film's release via Instagram. Fans of Tupac have been anticipating this release for some time now. On the 20th anniversary of Tupac's death, the trailer for All Eyez On Me was released, raising anticipation for the flick, though it only mentioned that film was "coming soon."  The new official release date for the film has special significance, as June 16th is Tupac's birthday. So while we all might be upset that the film won't be released for awhile, fans can certainly appreciate the timing.

In an interview with TMZ Demetrius Shipp, Jr., who plays Pac in the film, said people have been calling him Pac since he worked at Target. He also revealed that his father produced Tupac's song "Toss It Up."

The film is directed by longtime video director, Benny Boom and is written by Ed Gonzalez and Jeremy Haft. The Walking Dead star, Danai Gurira, will play Afeni Shakur, while actor Jamal Woolard is reprising his role as Biggie Smalls from the biopic Notorious. Actress Kat Graham will play Jada Pinkett Smith, and Dominic L. Santana will play Suge Knight.
