Trinidad James Bashes New York Rap Scene, Rappers Respond
The rapper paused his performance during a show last night (Nov. 12) inside Converse Rubber Tracks -- a studio located in Brooklyn, N.Y. -- to go on a short rant about how he thinks the city's hip-hop scene has fallen off since the Diplomats' takeover last decade.
“I remember when New York ran this s---. When Dipset was f---ing turnt the f--- up. What the f--- happened? I remember when New York rap was the s---, and us in the South, us bamas, we was like, ‘What the f---?’ and we just did our own thing," James says at the show. "But now we run y’all musically, that’s crazy.”
The crowd sounded audibly disgruntled after James made the claim. "I'm not trying to start nothing, but if you want to do something, we could do something because I don't give a f---," he tells the crowd.
"He's wildin', yo!" a bystander yells after James' taunt, unconvinced.
Trinidad James came under fire soon after, especially from the New York rap scene's own AG Da Coroner. AG questioned the 'All Gold Everything' creator's ability to stand behind his words.
"Trinidad James is p----...he was quiet backstage then said some sideways s--- on stage, I was still backstage so I didnt hear it," AG wrote via Twitter. "Then he had security clear out backstage before he came back there.

James defended his statement by posting a photo on Instagram of his sneakers with the caption: "I said a lot tonight in NY and people are prolly gonna take the negative and run with it but my main purpose in life only is to take care of my mama and keep my shoe game on "30 million" . Other than that if I can inspire a young person to be the best person they wanna be along the way....then cool. Nothing else matters. #CrazyDeacon #BlackBatman."
There's probably going to be a few more candid responses to James' remarks as the days go by. This doesn't look good for a man who's still redeeming himself after that Tim Westwood freestyle.
