Trey Songz Flirts With Crowd at Essence Music Festival
This year's Essence Music Festival was chock full of R&B veterans hitting its main stage at the New Orleans Superdome over the weekend (July 3), yet despite being the rookie of the bunch, Trey Songz handled his set like a seasoned pro.
Wearing a black suit jacket and shirt, which he would take off by the end of his show, Songz tried his hand at charming every woman in the nearly packed arena with his sultry vocals. "It's my second year performing at the Essence Music Festival, and it's an amazing experience," he told the mostly female audience. From there, Songz moved through his musical catalog, which included 'Can't Be Friends,' 'Neighbors Know My Name,' 'Say Aah' and 'Bottoms Up.'
Songz amped up the flirtation factor by shouting out several unsuspecting audience members, with words of gratitude, before ripping off his black tank top and exposing his bare chest. At 26 years old, the R&B crooner proved that his loyal following, dubbed "Trey's Angels," continues to grow, pushing his latest album, 'Passion, Pain & Pleasure,' to debut in the No. 2 spot on the Billboard album charts selling 240,000 copies in its first week.
