Trae Tha Truth is doing his part to help the young people in his hometown of Houston succeed.

Last Saturday (July 22), the veteran rapper teamed up with the Houston Public Library and gave out 75 college scholarships to students. He did it at the tenth annual Trae Day event, where locals and artists gather to hand out items like free school uniforms and supplies.

While speaking to local media, Trae said that it's important to motivate young people and hopefully the scholarships will do just that.

"We were trying to find a way to excite the people, because our reading rates are really low," he said. "Sometimes you gotta give people that push to make them want to do better as a whole."

Meanwhile, the H-Town spitter recently dropped his new album Tha Truth Pt. 3, which finds him teaming up with artists like Lil Durk, Young Thug and Post Malone. He released the single "Take Me Back" off the LP just a couple of weeks ago.

You can listen to that project here and also see a video of Trae talking about the scholarships above.
