Multi-platinum hitmaker Timbaland has signed a management deal with Jay-Z's Roc Nation, according to an announcement posted on the company's website yesterday.

News of the deal comes on the heels of the release of the producer/hip-hop artist's latest work, Justin Timberlake's new track, "Suit & Tie" (featuring Jay-Z).

Timbaland, who is signed with Interscope, is one of many big-name artists added to Roc Nation's roster recently. He joins the ranks of fellow hip-hop/R&B superstars Rihanna, Mark Ronson, Jay Electronica, and M.I.A., as well as lesser known acts like Meek Mill and Casey Veggies, among others.

While it's exciting news, it's worth noting that Timbaland has been on something of a cold streak. Until the release of JT's latest, it's been difficult to pinpoint a recent hit record worked on by the VA native. 2007 seems like a lifetime ago.

Which means that ultimately this announcement may be much ado about nothing. Or, it could mean the hip-hop giant has got more boundary-pushing projects on the horizon. Regardless, we'll keep you posted.
