The Weeknd returned to the Saturday Night Live stage for the third time to perform his latest singles “Starboy” and “False Alarm” from his upcoming album.

Backed by his band (sans Daft Punk), the newly-coiffed singer helped kick off the 42nd season of SNL with an electrifying rendition of "Starboy." The Weeknd performed the song's lyrics with his tender falsetto as a glowing cross hovers over him on a smoke-filled stage.

For his second set, The Weeknd - dressed in all black - performed his electro-pop jam "False Alarm." This time the hovering cross is flickering an orange-colored hue.

This is the Weeknd’s third appearance on SNL. He first made his debut in October 2015 to perform "The Hills” (with Nicki Minaj) and "I Can't Feel My Face." Then last March he returned to play hypeman to Future with his rendition of “Low Life.”

On SNL's premiere season episode, The Weeknd also appeared in a brief promo for - wait for it - “The Weeknd Update.” The Grammy Award-winning singer announced, “I got a haircut.”

The Weeknd’s album Starboy will arrive in stores on Nov. 25.
