Rappers being tapped for film soundtracks is nothing new but a film as powerful as the upcoming Detroit can’t just have any artist on the soundtrack.

The film creators recruited The Roots and Bilal for the song “It Ain’t Fair.” The song starts off slow with Bilal singing a capella but the instruments then kick in and the song hits its climax around the two-and-half-minute mark when Black Thought bursts in.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Detroit is based on the Algiers Motel incident which occurred during the city’s 1967 12th Street Riot. The film stars John Boyega, Will Poulter, John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie.

Detroit is in theaters on July 28.
