Teedra Moses Explains Signing With Maybach Music Group
Teedra Moses has been bubbling in the industry for quite some time, but she's ready for her shot at superstardom. The R&B songstress has opened up about signing to Rick Ross' Maybach Music Group imprint, divulging how she linked up with the Bawse and what listeners can expect from her in the near future.
The sultry singer revealed that it all began with a Twitter message from Ross. "I never check my DMs. I saw a message from Rick Ross, and he said, 'Hey I'm a big fan of yours, what label are you on?'" she told Billboard.com. "I told him I wasn't with a label. He sent me his number."
After linking up with Ross and his MMG artists Wale and Meek Mill, she decided that the label was the right place for her. "If you believe in me and I believe in you, that's a sign, and that's what happened with Rick Ross and me," she continued. "Maybach Music is all about hard work. It's not corporate, 'Oh that's not the single, let's try this or let's try that.' With Maybach if you believe you have something you work it. You get out in the streets and work it. Then they can't deny when people take to it. That's an operation I can roll with. I'm not being asked to come outside of who I am."
She also spoke on her forthcoming releases, explaining that she has a mixtape dubbed 'Luxurious Undergrind' coming in the summer. The feature-heavy offering may be released as a mixtape, but she hopes to make it of album quality.
"The attention that will be on this mixtape will be the same as the attention that would be on a sophomore album [therefore] I'm putting all my efforts to making this like Drake did," said Moses, who's shelving her sophomore album. 'The Lioness,' and plotting a tour with Raheem DeVaughn in the summer. "He made a mixtape so great that it could have been an album. That's what I want to do."
