Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli was the victim of theft while performing in Melbourne, Australia over the weekend. Someone broke into Jean Grae's dressing room, where he was keeping some of his valuables and stole his laptop and cell phone.

In an effort to find the guilty party, Talib updated his Twitter to tell what happened. "Someone came in Jean Grae's dressing rm last night, stole my laptop & phone. They was with the opener whos dressing rm was next to mine." Fortunately, the hotel were Talib was residing was able to provide footage of the thief entering and then leaving the dressing room, which ended up circulating online. The assailant was identified as an Australian man named Amir Elashir, who is a fan of both Jean Grae and Talib Kweli.

"Someone tell Amir Bashir I have that Charles Court address. And landline. Man up," Kweli said via Twitter. "The club owner called the police already. In the meantime I catch a flight tomorrow. And I aint leaving without ALL the info." After acquiring Elashir's address and home phone number Talib contacted him and Elashir said he would give the items back. To make matter worse and in an effort to draw attention to himself, Elashir wrote on his Facebook page, "Innocent till proven guilty!" and "Over night fame!" At press time no official statement had been made by Talib on the status of his laptop and cell phone, but Naughty by Nature who was also performing on the same bill updated their Twitter page stating that Elashir had returned the items.

"Amir returned Talib's laptop & phone. I just got off the phone with him as he dropped it at the hotel. Don't know what he was thinking. Call off the Lynch Mobb! Talib's good have been returned in one piece. Please try to pardon Amir, he's been a fan for 10yrs. He was drunk! There's absolutely no excuse for stealing Other People's Property!"
