Just days after dropping the single "Heads Up, Eyes Open," Talib Kweli returns with the video for the song.

Teaming up with Rick Ross and singer Yummy Bingham, the visuals tell the story of a father and son who live different lives. While the father is working a 9 to 5 job, the son is in the streets.

According to Kweli, the video was inspired by an old friend named Headqcourterz. "When I was on Rawkus, there was a guy working there named Headqcourterz, a good friend of DJ Premier, whose spirit was so beautiful that he would brighten any room he would enter," the rapper said.

He continued, "He lost his life years ago, but there was one thing he used to say each and every time he said goodbye – ‘Heads Up, Eyes Open.’ This phrase has stuck with me and become a guide thru my career and life. Produced by J. Rhodes, ‘Heads Up, Eyes Open’ is a song dedicated to the memory of Headqcourterz. It is a song about how faith informs the way an artist moves and creates. It was a pleasure to be joined by Rick Ross and Yummy Bingham, two of my favorite artists.”

"Heads Up, Eyes Open" will be featured on Talib's upcoming album, Radio Silence, which is due on Nov. 17. In the meantime, check out the music video below.
