There were plenty of stylish celebs at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night (Aug. 28). While we didn’t see anything egregious on the red carpet, some fans were upset that Alicia Keys went with the all natural look at the event.

Just to bring you up to speed, the R&B singer announced back in June, via her Lenny Letter, that she will stop wearing makeup in her everyday and professional life. Keys launched the #NoMakeUp movement to challenge today’s beauty standards.

So, when Keys appeared on the red carpet with no makeup, people criticized the R&B mom for not having her face properly done up. “Just a little concealer next time," wrote one critic.

On Monday (Aug. 29), Keys' husband, Swizz Beatz, went on his Instagram page to defend his wife's choice to wear no makeup at the ceremony.

“This is deep,” he said in the video. “Somebody sitting home mad because somebody didn’t wear makeup on their face. Not your face, but they didn’t put makeup on their face because they just didn’t feel like wearing makeup. But you mad because that person didn’t put on makeup to please you?"

"Type of s--- is this? Cause you can do whatever you wanna do," he continued. "She didn’t tell y’all don’t wear no makeup. She just said that she’s not vibin’ with the makeup all the way 100 percent like that. That’s kinda her thing that she wanna do.”

Yeah, so let Alicia Keys be great - with or without makeup.
