Styles P and his wife, Adjua Styles, recently appeared on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club to talk about mental health and the loss of their child, among other things.

In July 2015, Styles P revealed that his step-daughter, Tai Hing, committed suicide. At that time, it was one of the worst pains he and his wife ever experienced. Two years later, the couple is still mourning the loss but are now raising awareness about mental health and depression.

“If we knew she was depressed she would’ve been home or with us,” said Styles. “Some things you can’t see because some people won’t tell you.”

Adjua revealed that Tai was going through a culmination of emotions following a recent breakup, and issues related to the absence of her biological father and her bisexuality. “It ate me up, because I couldn’t stop the pain,” she said.

The death of her daughter help inspire Adjua to write her manuscript for a book that will not only honor her daughter, but also offer some insight on mental health. She hopes the book will become a "big message of unconditional love."

Styles P and Adjua also spoke on the importance of healthy living. The LOX rapper is a proud owner of a juice bar in New York called Juices For Life. Adjua, who went to culinary school and was raised vegetarian, inspired Ghost to open a juice bar with Jadakiss. The Breakfast Club co-hosts DJ Envy and Angela Yee are also business partners in the venture.

“As men, we need try to be healthy, because all of the healthy people are going to gather up and get in harmony,” said Styles. "Our health means a lot and often we take it for granted."
