Stephen Curry is staying with the Golden State Warriors. The two-time MVP has signed a supermax contract worth a whopping $201 million.

Clearly, this makes the 29-year-old b-baller the richest player in the NBA. Golden State general manager Bob Myers told ESPN that the Warrior will finalize the contract once the free-agency moratorium ends on Thursday (July 6).

Curry, who been in the league for eight years, has been a huge asset for the Warriors. The franchise won their second NBA championship in three years. Before this supermax contract, Curry was under a four-year, $44 million contract extension.

Golden State owner Joe Lacob made it clear after his team won the NBA title last month that Curry would stay with the franchise despite being an unrestricted free agent in the off-season.

"We're going to do whatever it takes to keep Steph here and happy," Lacob told the Bay Area News Group. "And I know he wants to be here and we want him here. So I do not anticipate any issues with him staying."

Stephen Curry or his agent has addressed his new contract situation to the media. Most likely, we will hear from them next week.

Fellow NBA star LeBron James congratulated Stephen Curry on his new deal on Twitter. Meanwhile, other folks were counting Curry's pockets. Check it out below.
