    "Thug Life" (I Remember)

    Nipsey Hussle Featuring Young Thug

Crenshaw's own Nipsey Hussle continues to unload a barrage of material with his latest track, "Thug Life," which sees the neighborhood hustler taking it back to the turf and hugging the pavement. Featuring Young Thug, the song features Nip giving his rags-to-riches testimonial, rapping, "Was on my grind, it was time / I ain't think twice, I paid my price and we did this, n---- / Reach every goal I actually set, I had to sit back down and rearrange that list, n----," before his guest star tumbles off an off-kilter, yet melodious verse during which he tends to his bottom chick while giving a fair warning to anyone thinking of testing his mettle. Nipsey Hussle's upcoming project, Victory Lap, may be simmering on the pot at this moment, but "Thug Life" serves as a quick snack to hold listeners over until the main course is prepared, and is one of the hardest cuts of the past week.

    "Family Rules"

    Boosie Badazz

Boosie Badazz is back at it again with another quality release with his latest one-off, "Family Rules," a somber tune that is sure to hit home for more than a few listeners. Produced by Dame Grease, the track is powered by keys, snares, and hi-hats, over which the Louisiana native breaks down the code of conduct when it comes to dealing with your relatives and loved ones. "When we fight, we all fight, that's a family rule / My n----, it's on them to keep the family cool / He been my n---- since 6, so he my family, too / My n----, so his business it get handled, too," he raps. Boosie Badazz describes the family rules as commandments that should be followed and never betrayed under any circumstances. The hip-hop vet impresses yet again with "Family Rules," turning in what is one of this week's most heartfelt songs.

    "Bounce"

Kid Red Featuring Chris Brown and Migos

Up-and-coming rapper Kid Red may not have blown up yet, but his new heater could change that by the time summer rolls around. Linking up with his good friend Chris Brown and ATL trio Migos, the Compton native rolls out his new single, "Bounce," which is a sure-fire party-starter. Setting it off, rapping, "I got a bad bitch with good credit / Bitch, you on a perc, bitch, I'm on seven / Went to shop-rite with the, I bought a Mac-11 / Keep my business on the low 'cause these n----s telling," Kid Red rides the rollicking beat with ease before letting Breezy and the Migos get in on the fun. There's no telling when the public will get a new full-length from Kid Red, but if "Bounce" is any indication, the delay should be more than worth it and could turn the up-and-comer to a mainstay on our playlists.
